what do I actually care about?
Write a personal theory of change. It sounds big, but it's a few honest answers on one page:
- What kind of world do you want to live in?
- How do you feel about how you're building it now?
- What steps are you taking to get there?
- What skills do you need, and do you have the support to do it?
- Which books, mentors, or groups guide you?
- Are there groups to join that match your answers?
are my actions matching my values?
Take ten minutes to list what you did this month in service of what you believe. Perfect politics don't matter if you aren't doing anything with them. Notice one thing you could add, and one thing you could let go.
how do I ask for help?
Receiving care is part of the work. Try: "Hey, I'm having a hard week. Could you help me with ___ on Thursday?" Then ask your friends what support looks like for them.
where can I start this week?
- Get a library card and go to one event.
- Spend time in a local park.
- Volunteer once somewhere that feels meaningful.
- Do one thing outside your comfort zone.
now go find the people who care too.
